Our Review of the Cuvée

This Saint-Estèphe boasts a deep purple color and a subtle nose blending woody notes, black and red fruits, and a hint of maturity. On the palate, the wood dominates the fruit, with fine tannins and well-balanced acidity, creating a flavorful and harmonious whole. Ideal with hearty red meats such as lamb, pigeon, or ostrich, this wine will be enjoyable to drink through 2026.

Château L'Argilus du Roi

Argilus du Roi

Languedoc | France

L’Argilus du Roi is a human-scale property within the Saint-Estèphe appellation, established in 2004 and acquired in 2010 by Martial Mignet, a passionate viticulture enthusiast. The estate prioritizes a long-term vision, combining respect for viticultural tradition, the land, and the vine, while integrating modern winemaking methods.

With only 5 hectares of vines, L’Argilus du Roi is among the smallest châteaux in the appellation, producing a limited number of bottles of its sole grand vin. Sustainable viticulture practices are employed, alongside highly selective sorting, to preserve the wine's elegance and quality.

The parcels are situated on a typical Saint-Estèphe terroir, composed of gravel, pebbles, and sand, in proximity to the Gironde. The estate asserts complete mastery over its production chain, ensuring a wine of high standards, comparable to its esteemed neighbors in the Médoc.
