This Vin De France, made from 100% Tannat, stands out for its artisanal and environmentally friendly approach. Grown on clay-limestone soils with 25-year-old vines, it undergoes meticulous winemaking: full destemming, short maceration, and natural fermentation with indigenous yeasts. After aging for 8 months in concrete tanks, the wine is bottled without the addition of sulfites, fining, or filtration, in accordance with the lunar calendar.

Our Review of the Cuvée

At first glance, this wine surprises with its intense, deep color. The nose is exceptionally pure, revealing the floral and spicy aromas typical of Tannat. On the palate, it is frank and direct, with a beautifully silky texture resulting from its unadulterated winemaking process. The tannins, which are distinctly present, provide a balanced structure and a lingering finish. Served at 15°C, it pairs perfectly with a platter of Bigorre Black Pig charcuterie or spicy dishes, offering an authentic and convivial experience.

Domaine Labranche-Laffont is a family-owned winery located in Maumusson-Laguian, in the Gers department, within the Madiran and Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh appellation. The estate was taken over in 1993 by Christine Dupuy, a pioneer of local viticulture, who transitioned it to certified organic farming while preserving plots of very old vines, including a rare pre-phylloxera Tannat plot dating back to the 19th century.

The vines are planted on south-east-facing slopes of clay and gravel, which promote optimal ripening of the Tannat, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. The estate also produces dry and sweet Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh wines made from Gros Manseng and Petit Manseng grapes.

The winemaking process involves minimal intervention to allow the terroir’s character to shine through. Madiran’s red wines are distinguished by their structure, refined tannins, and aromatic intensity, while the whites are
