Vieux Macvin du Jura

Macvin Du Jura | White | NM

This Macvin du Jura is made according to Jura tradition: Savagnin must fortified with Jura marc, then aged for several years in old barrels. Fertile yet refined, its structure is rich but balanced by a lively acidity. A complex, expressive, and elegant mistelle, unfiltered, true to the estate's biodynamic philosophy.

Our opinion on the vintage

The wine's intense golden color is illuminated by amber highlights. The nose blends deep aromas of dried fruit—apricot, fig, and raisin—with notes of honey, candied orange peel, fresh walnuts, and sweet spices. On the palate, the texture is rich, dense, and velvety, while vibrant acidity provides balance and freshness. The palate is carried by a beautiful salinity and remarkable length, where nuances of candied fruit, subtle caramel, and sweet pepper unfold. The finish is pure, persistent, and complex. A superb fortified wine, to be savored slowly at the end of a meal, ideal with foie gras, strong cheeses, or nutty desserts.

Domaine Ganevat , located in Rotalier in the Jura region, embodies one of the most unique and accomplished expressions of the Jura vineyards. Run by Jean-François Ganevat, the estate is based on meticulous work on family plots , often planted with old vines , cultivated according to demanding organic principles and close to biodynamics.

Yields are intentionally low, in order to concentrate the expression of the grape and the terroir, without artifice.

In the cellar, the philosophy is the same: minimal intervention, maximum precision . Fermentation occurs naturally, and aging is long, often in old barrels or neutral containers, so as never to mask the ... Lire plus
