Alex Foillard

Brouilly 2022

Brouilly | Red | 2022

A vineyard undergoing a transformation, Alex Foillard has opted for respectful viticulture, initiating organic conversion from the outset. On his granite plots in Beaujolais, he uses carbonic maceration and ages the wine in concrete tanks for nine months, without filtration. His 50-year-old vines produce a refined wine, where each winemaking step is meticulously controlled to preserve the authenticity and pure expression of the terroir.

Our opinion on the vintage

From the first glance, this wine captivates with its translucent garnet color. The nose reveals a fascinating complexity, combining Morello cherry, bramble, incense, and violet in subtle harmony. On the palate, one discovers a round, ample, and velvety texture, enhanced by the elegance and ethereal quality of fresh, juicy fruit. Nuances of ripe cherry, cocoa, and sweet spices emerge on the finish, delicately intensifying the sensory experience. This wine perfectly embodies the family heritage and the boldness of the new generation of Beaujolais winemakers.

Alex Foillard

Beaujolais | France

Alex Foillard comes from an iconic Beaujolais family and set up his own business in 2016 under the SAS Resveratrol structure. Son of Jean Foillard, a leading figure in the Beaujolais wine renaissance, he is now developing his own vision, while maintaining a strong family tradition.

The estate primarily cultivates vines located in the Beaujolais crus, notably Morgon, on granite soils typical of the appellation. The vines are grown using environmentally friendly practices, with careful soil management and particular attention paid to microbial life.

The wines are made without unnecessary additives, using indigenous yeasts for fermentation and minimal aging, in order to allow the fruit and natural structure of the Gamay grape to express themselves. The wines strive for a balance between lusciousness, freshness, and depth.
