Vin de France | Orange | 2023

This wine is made from young Soreli vines, a unique Italian grape variety naturally resistant to disease, allowing for cultivation without additional treatments. Grown on clay-sand soils, the vines are organically farmed and pruned short. Vinification is carried out without sulfites, with natural fermentation in concrete tanks and gentle extraction by punching down. After a 15-day maceration, the wine is aged partly in stainless steel tanks and partly in large oak casks before being bottled in the spring, with a light addition of sulfites.

Our opinion on the vintage

This wine boasts a brilliant coppery hue. The nose is rich and complex, displaying notes of apricot and orange marmalade, mingled with aromas of chestnut honey, faded rose, and spice. On the palate, the wine is distinguished by its roundness and breadth, with a velvety texture and subtle tannins. Flavors of roasted yellow fruits and candied citrus peel dominate, while a fine acidity provides a palpable freshness on the finish. The finish is marked by a powerful tannic structure and lingering orange bitterness, harmoniously complemented by sweet spicy notes.

Languedoc | France

A trained oenologist and a true free spirit in Languedoc, Jeff Carrel is one of those winemakers who have profoundly revitalized the image of wines from the South of France. For over twenty-five years, he has been exploring Languedoc terroirs with a simple yet demanding idea: to reveal the best of each grape variety, each plot, without ever masking the wine's identity.

Based in Roussillon, Jeff Carrel works hand in hand with a collective of partner winemakers called Les Amis de Jeff Carrel. Together, they select grapes from carefully chosen terroirs, cultivated with respect for the environment, to produce cuvées that are precise, delicious, and consistently excellent.

His style is distinguished by very expressive wines, driven by fruit, freshness, and balance, far from the heavy reds often associated with the South. Syrah, Grenache, Carignan, and Chardonnay are crafted with finesse to create ... Lire plus
