Cahors | Red | 2022

This wine is a Malbec made from 30-year-old vines planted on limestone soil and a second terrace. Cultivated organically, the vines benefit from a density of 4,500 vines per hectare and controlled yields of 50 hl/ha. The harvest is partially done by hand. Vinification is characterized by early harvesting and short maceration, thus avoiding excessive extraction. Aged for six months in stainless steel and concrete tanks, this wine contains no added sulfites.

Our opinion on the vintage

Visually, this Malbec displays a deep, almost opaque purple hue. The bouquet is particularly expressive, blending aromas of blackberry and black cherry, enhanced by hints of stone fruit and spice. On the palate, the texture is round and velvety, offering a dense body and vibrant fruit. A slight effervescence from carbon dioxide dissipates after vigorous decanting, revealing a flavorful and indulgent finish. The long, lingering finish of blackberry and cocoa provides a rich and memorable sensory experience.

Located on the hillsides of Luzech, in the Cahors appellation, Château Les Croisille is a family estate founded in 1979 by Bernard and Cécile Croisille. The vineyard, initially composed of fallow plots, was gradually brought back into cultivation, with the first harvest taking place in the mid-1980s.

The estate has developed over time, with its first bottling in the late 1980s, followed by the establishment of its own cellars in the early 2000s. In 2008, Germain Croisille joined the property and began the conversion to organic farming, achieving certification two years later. The estate is now a member of the Vignerons de Nature group, which brings together producers committed to practices that respect the terroir.

The vineyard rests on iron-rich limestone soils, particularly favorable to the expression of Malbec, the emblematic grape variety of Cahors. Harvesting is increasingly carried out by hand, a choice still in the minority ... Lire plus
