Chardonnay Champs Poids 2021

Côtes du Jura | White | 2021

Anne and Jean-François Ganevat's 2021 Champs Poids cuvée is a great Jura white wine, made from Chardonnay grown on a parcel planted in 1986 near Arbois. This locality rests on Bajocian limestone soils, whose chalky nature and freshness play a fundamental role in the wine's balance. The vines are cultivated with the utmost respect for organic and biodynamic farming by a winemaker friend of the estate, André-Jean Morin, following an approach faithful to Jean-François Ganevat's convictions.

Our opinion on the vintage

The wine has a pure and elegant nose, blending citrus, apple, and white flowers, then revealing chalky and smoky notes with aeration. On the palate, it combines directness and amplitude, with a fine acidity balancing the fruit's ripeness. The texture is rich but fresh, developing notes of zest, pear, and salinity. The overall impression remains deep, precise, and long on the finish. A very beautiful Jura Chardonnay.

Domaine Ganevat , located in Rotalier in the Jura region, embodies one of the most unique and accomplished expressions of the Jura vineyards. Run by Jean-François Ganevat, the estate is based on meticulous work on family plots , often planted with old vines , cultivated according to demanding organic principles and close to biodynamics.

Here, each vine is cultivated as an individual entity. The soils, primarily composed of marl, limestone scree, and clay, are tilled and maintained to preserve their life and natural balance. Yields are intentionally low, in order to concentrate the expression of the grape and the terroir, without artifice.

In the cellar, the philosophy is the same: minimal intervention, maximum precision . Fermentation occurs naturally, and aging is long, often in old barrels or neutral containers, so as never to mask the ... Lire plus
