Pineau d'Aunis 2024

Vin de France | Red | 2024

The vinification of this Pineau d'Aunis is distinguished by fermentation in truncated conical oak vats, followed by semi-carbonic maceration for 15 to 21 days. This method combines tradition and innovation to enhance the unique character of the grape variety. Aging for six months in demi-muids and Burgundy barrels imparts a refined structure that respects the integrity of the fruit. The clay-flint and sandy soils, along with vines ranging from 3 to 80 years old, contribute to the complexity of this exceptional wine.

Our opinion on the vintage

This Pineau d'Aunis reveals a captivating nose with notes of small red fruits and a subtle peppery nuance. On the palate, it is vibrant and fresh, offering a delicate texture that pleasantly coats the palate. The elegant structure testifies to fine craftsmanship, supported by a delicate minerality inherited from the flinty clay soils. The fine tannins bring an elegant sweetness, and the finish leaves a lingering impression of red fruit and spice.

At Puzelat, the aim isn't to correct the wine, but to guide it. Producing Gamay or Menu Pineau in Touraine thus becomes an exercise in controlled freedom. The wines often display a very open, almost juicy fruit character, but underpinned by a thread of acidity that keeps them balanced. They are unique and unlike anything else. This has been the house's signature for decades.
