Les Trouillots 2022

Côtes du Jura | Red | 2022

This Pinot Noir comes from vines over 35 years old, planted in the Trouillots terroir, on clayey decalcification soils (Lias). Organically farmed since 2014, it is hand-harvested and carefully vinified: whole bunch maceration in stainless steel tanks for 15 days, followed by alcoholic and malolactic fermentations in stainless steel tanks and barrels. Unfiltered and without added sulfites!

It is necessary to decant the wine a little in advance to allow it to degas if necessary.

Our opinion on the vintage

Although unfiltered, this Pinot Noir has a clear, lovely, bright purple color. On the nose, it offers aromas of small red and black fruits, with a delicate floral touch. The palate remains elegant and focused, driven by a lively freshness and supple tannins that highlight the purity of the fruit.

The estate is located in Poligny (39800, Jura), in one of the Jura's historic wine-growing regions. It is a family estate that Valentin Morel took over in 2014, after studying law and pursuing an initial career outside the wine industry. Under his guidance, the estate was renamed Les Pieds sur Terre (Feet on the Ground), a name that reflects his philosophy of natural viticulture that respects the terroir. The vines had already been cultivated organically by his father, Jean-Luc, since 1999 and have since evolved towards more pronounced biodynamic practices under Valentin.

The estate covers approximately 6 to 7.5 hectares of vines planted on marl and limestone soils around Poligny, in the Côtes du Jura AOC. The grape varieties cultivated are typical of the Jura region: Savagnin, Chardonnay, Poulsard, Trousseau, and Pinot Noir; Valentin is also experimenting with hybrid varieties to adapt to climate change. Viticulture emphasizes soil health, ... Lire plus
