Vent d'Ouest 2020

Cabardès | Red | 2020

This bold blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache comes from the unique terroir of Cabardès, where Atlantic and Mediterranean influences meet. The vineyard, planted on clay-limestone slopes, benefits from a climate tempered by its altitude of approximately 300 meters. The meticulous winemaking of this precise and elegant wine highlights the natural richness of the grape varieties, offering a tasting experience free from the oaky artifice that some vintages might exhibit.

Our opinion on the vintage

From the first sip, this wine, with its deep garnet color, intrigues with a discreet yet rich nose, revealing a palette of ripe fruit and spices, with subtle notes of leather and dried orange peel. After aeration, aromas of blackcurrant and violet unfold. On the palate, the experience is fluid and silky, beautifully balancing fruity, floral, and mineral flavors. The finish, gently lingering, highlights woody nuances with hints of toast and mocha, leaving a lingering, luscious blackcurrant aftertaste. To fully appreciate its qualities, it is recommended to serve it at 17°C and open it an hour before tasting. It pairs perfectly with traditional dishes, red meats, and game.

Domaine de Cabrol

Languedoc | France

Cabardès plays on the meeting of Atlantic and Mediterranean influences, and the Cabrol estate has been exploring this intersection for decades. Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Grenache coexist here, producing luminous, vibrant wines supported by fine tannins. Vinification prioritizes the wine's delicate texture, avoiding heavy extraction, and allows for a clear expression of the limestone terroir. The result is an ethereal, almost graphic balance, enhanced by discreet aging. Cabrol has long demonstrated that this still relatively unknown appellation possesses a truly unique character.
