Anjou | Red | 2019

The vinification of this Cabernet Franc is carried out with meticulous care, emphasizing total destemming and the absence of added yeasts to preserve the purity of the fruit. The gentle infusion process allows for a harmonious development of aromas, before aging in Burgundy barrels, which impart a silky and well-balanced texture. The vines, aged between 20 and 60 years and planted in Devonian limestone over schist, enrich this cuvée with complexity.

Our opinion on the vintage

From the first glance, this Cabernet Franc reveals a vibrant, eye-catching color. On the nose, seductive aromas of red fruit mingle with subtle notes of undergrowth, offering an inviting elegance. On the palate, the sensation is fluid and refined, with a silky texture and balanced structure that envelop the palate. The tannins are fine and well-integrated, providing remarkable length on the finish. This Anjou is an authentic expression of its unique terroir, ideal for pairing with refined cuisine or for enjoying on its own for its charm and sophistication.

In Anjou Noir, Patrick Baudouin conducts demanding work with Chenin Blanc, producing dry or sweet wines depending on the vintage. The vineyard rests mainly on schist soils, which structure the wines with a tight framework and a tension characteristic of the region.

The winemaking process favors indigenous yeasts and long, patient aging, allowing the wine to develop at its own pace. This approach results in wines that are straightforward and precise, sometimes reserved in their youth, but possess a real capacity to evolve over time.

The wines are distinguished by their vibrant fruit, clean length, and clear expression of the Anjou Noir terroir. The estate's work is guided by a rigorous and consistent approach, making Patrick Baudouin a recognized authority on Chenin Blanc in this part of the Loire Valley.
