Menetou-Salon | Red | 2023

This Pinot Noir comes from Clos des Treilles, located on a perfectly sunny hillside. The plot benefits from clay-limestone soil typical of the Kimmeridgian period, ideal for this grape variety. Whole-cluster fermentation, followed by 22 months of aging in barrels and tanks, results in a balanced texture and refined structure, capable of enhancing the aromas of Pinot Noir and pairing well with a wide variety of dishes.

Our opinion on the vintage

On the nose, this Pinot Noir reveals subtle aromas of red fruit, accompanied by delicate floral notes. On the palate, its texture is silky and enveloping, offering a rich and complex sensory experience. The wine's structure, with its elegant tannins, harmonizes perfectly with red meat and game dishes, while also offering a beautiful breadth for chocolate lovers. The freshness of the south/southeast exposure and the precise winemaking admirably highlight the pure expression of Pinot Noir.

Located in Menetou-Salon, Domaine Philippe Gilbert is part of a long family winemaking history, with the Gilbert family having been present in the vineyard since the 18th century. The estate is currently managed by Philippe Gilbert, who oversees a vineyard of approximately 29 hectares.

The plots are situated on hillsides resting on Kimmeridgian sedimentary soils, composed of marl, clay, and limestone. The grape varieties are mainly divided between Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, emblematic grapes of the appellation, cultivated with a constant pursuit of balance and clarity.

The estate was converted to organic farming and then to biodynamic farming between 2005 and 2007, and is now Biodyvin certified. This approach translates into meticulous vineyard work, focused on soil health and close observation of the vines. Winemaking aims to respect the natural rhythm of the wines, with extended aging—approximately one year for the whites and up to two years ... Lire plus
