La Côte 2024

Sancerre | White | 2024

The La Côte cuvée comes from a chalky terroir in Chavignol (La Grande Côte), cultivated organically on old, hand-harvested vines. Natural vinification with indigenous yeasts, fermented and aged in large oak casks and old vats without new oak. The result is a dry, precise, and mineral Sancerre, combining density, saline tension, and elegant clarity.

Our opinion on the vintage

The nose is imbued with aromas of lime zest, white grapefruit, white flowers, and mineral notes reminiscent of oyster shell or wet stone. On the palate, the attack is lively and dynamic, the wine concentrated yet delicate. The saline tension is powerful, leading to a long, linear, chalky finish. Vibrant acidity supports the whole with a sensation of fresh sap. This Sancerre, built on the purity of its terroir, pairs wonderfully with seafood, sashimi, or goat cheese, while offering a refined and approachable character.

Boulay's signature style is evident in the precision of the Sauvignon Blanc grown on the white soils and limestone stonies of Chavignol. The wines display ripe yet restrained fruit, a sleek structure, and the salinity found in the finest Sancerre. Aging in demi-muids, carefully integrated, imparts a silky texture without altering the aromatic profile. The single-vineyard cuvées—Monts Damnés and La Grande Côte—each express a nuance of slope and exposure. One of the most consistent and elegant estates in the village.
