The Bordaxuria farm, nestled on the slopes of Arradoy, offers an exceptional terroir thanks to its terraced vineyards. This method of cultivation, often done by hand, reduces yields, thereby ensuring concentrated quality. The vineyard is managed using organic farming practices, with meticulous attention paid to every step, from the vine to the winemaking process. The wines display a beautiful balance and marked depth, reflecting the winemakers’ artisanal expertise.

Our Review of the Cuvée

You’ll be instantly captivated by the Irouléguy red, with its brilliant purple hue that evokes the most intense black fruits. On the nose, aromas of blueberry cream intertwine with subtle hints of blackberry and black cherry, with a spicy note in the background. On the palate, the wine reveals a full-bodied, velvety texture combined with remarkable freshness and richness. The finish is particularly indulgent, revealing a mineral texture that connects directly to the roots of the Irouléguy terroir. This wine embodies a unique sensory experience, vibrant and deeply rooted in its terroir.

Domaine Bordaxuria is located in Ispoure, in the Irouléguy wine region, and was founded in the 1980s by the Reca family. The family’s three daughters took over the estate in 2014, expanding both the winemaking and cheese-making operations of the family farm.

The estate spans 9 hectares of vineyards, 80% of which are terraced on loamy and sandstone soils that are very rich in iron. The red grape varieties are primarily Tannat, with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon making up the remainder, while the white varieties include Gros and Petit Manseng as well as Petit Courbu. The vineyard is in the process of converting to organic farming.

The estate produces red, white, and rosé wines, with yields carefully controlled between 22 and 30 hl/ha. The estate strives to reflect the unique terroir of the steep slopes of Irouléguy while respecting the natural balance of the vines.
