Julien en Billat L'enfant terrible du Sud 2024

Côtes du Jura | Rouge | 2024

This rare cuvée is a natural blend of the estate’s red grape varieties, created in response to the frosts of 2017 and 2021. Hand-harvested, using native yeasts, and aged for one year in truncated-cone wooden vats without sulfur. The result is an airy red wine with a delicate texture, combining liveliness, fresh fruit, and a light structure. An elegant and easy-drinking wine, true to the estate’s biodynamic philosophy.

Our Review of the Cuvée

The color is light, almost luminous. On the nose, red berries emerge elegantly: strawberry and redcurrant, accompanied by delicate floral notes and a subtle hint of spice. On the palate, the attack is supple, the texture fluid and light, with a delicate structure. The fruit bursts on the tongue, carried by a lively acidity that lingers on the palate. The finish, juicy and fruity, makes you want to take another sip immediately. It is an easy-drinking and refined wine, without heaviness, perfect with rabbit with mushrooms or spiced vegetables.

Domaine Jean-François Ganevat

Jura | France

Located in Rotalier in the Jura, Domaine Ganevat embodies one of the most unique and accomplished expressions of the Jura vineyard. Led by Jean-François Ganevat, the estate is built upon meticulous work on family plots, often planted with old vines, cultivated according to demanding organic principles and close to biodynamics.

Yields are intentionally kept low to concentrate the expression of the grape and the terroir, without artifice.

In the cellar, the philosophy remains consistent: minimal intervention, maximum precision. Fermentations occur naturally, and aging periods are extended, often in old barrels or neutral vessels, to never ... Read more
