La Belle Aude 2024

Minervois | Blanc | 2024

This white Minervois, a blend of Marsanne and Muscat à Petits Grains, captivates with its rich and harmonious character. Harvested in the cool of the morning, the nearly overripe grapes yield a delicately pressed cuvée, whose temperature-controlled fermentation and aging on fine lees in tanks for three months develop complex aromas. Pair it with a variety of dishes; it has excellent aging potential of 3 to 4 years.

Our Review of the Cuvée

Upon opening this charming white wine with its golden-yellow hue, the nose is immediately enveloped by toasty notes, intertwined with blond tobacco and exotic fruits such as pineapple and white peach. The palate is generous and enveloping, with a rich texture where the flavors detected on the nose are enhanced by a hint of spice reminiscent of gingerbread. Its liveliness on the palate makes it an ideal companion for meals ranging from fish in sauce to glazed duck breast, promising renewed pleasure with every sip.

Syrah dominates here without overpowering the other elements: in Minervois, Michel Escande has patiently crafted a style that is ample yet never massive. The old vines, rooted in the limestone hillsides, yield juices that reveal a tight grain, consistent depth, and an unexpected freshness. Extended aging refines the contours while preserving a natural spicy character. A short sentence. The estate embodies a certain Languedoc classicism, but a vibrant, thoughtful classicism, focused on precision rather than raw power.
