Les Darons 2023

Pays d'Oc | Red | 2023

A blend of Grenache, Carignan, and Syrah from prestigious terroirs such as Minervois and La Clape, Jeff Carrel’s Les Darons is crafted with care. The grapes are harvested both by hand and mechanically, followed by precise winemaking with punch-downs to fully extract the aromas. This meticulously orchestrated aging in tanks results in an intense garnet color and a silky texture, making it a charismatic and approachable wine.

Our take on this vintage

Jeff Carrel’s Les Darons captivates from the very first glance with its dark, translucent garnet color. On the nose, it’s a feast of dark fruits like blackberry, black cherry, and raspberry, accented by subtle spices such as pepper and bay leaf. On the palate, the wine envelops the mouth with a round, velvety texture. The aromatic richness of the nose is present, but the raspberry and white pepper come more to the fore, offering a complex taste experience. The finish, concentrated and subtly chalky, lingers for a long time with notes of stewed fruit and spices.
