Menetou blanc Clos des Treilles 2022

Menetou-Salon | Blanc | 2022

This wine is made exclusively from Sauvignon grapes grown at Clos des Treilles. Located on a hillside in Parassy with excellent south/southeast exposure, the vineyard benefits from Kimmeridgian clay-limestone soils. The winemaking process is meticulous, with aging in 60-hectoliter casks on the lees without stirring for 18 months, resulting in remarkable structure and a rich texture. This careful attention gives the wine a freshness and density that make it ideal for a wide range of food and wine pairings.

Our Review of the Cuvée

On the nose, this Sauvignon reveals a beautiful aromatic complexity with notes of white fruit and citrus, enhanced by a hint of minerality. On the palate, the attack is both full-bodied and taut, with an elegant texture that lingers into a delicately briny finish. This wine’s profile, both vibrant and structured, promises a refined sensory experience, ideal for sophisticated dishes such as prawns or langoustines, white meats in sauce, and aged goat cheeses.

Located in Menetou-Salon, Domaine Philippe Gilbert is part of a long family tradition in winemaking, as the Gilbert family has been involved in viticulture since the 18th century. Today, the estate is run by Philippe Gilbert, who oversees a vineyard of approximately 29 hectares.

The vineyards are situated on hillsides built upon Kimmeridgian sedimentary soils, composed of marl, clay, and limestone. The vineyard is planted primarily with Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, the appellation’s signature grape varieties, which are cultivated with a constant focus on balance and clarity.

The estate transitioned to organic farming and then to biodynamic farming between 2005 and 2007, and is now Biodyvin-certified. This approach involves meticulous vineyard management, focused on soil vitality and close observation of the vines. The winemaking process aims to respect the natural rhythm of the wines, with extended aging—approximately one year for ... Read more
