The vines for this Tannat wine thrive on slopes with rich soils, combining clay, silt, and gravel, benefiting from a southeast exposure. The vinification combines a harvest at perfect ripeness, a cold pre-fermentation maceration, and controlled vatting. An aging period of 15 to 18 months in concrete tanks softens the tannins while enhancing the fruity aromas. The result is a velvety texture with a refined structure, reflecting meticulous work at every stage of vinification.

Our Review of the Cuvée

Upon first glance, a deep purple color is revealed. The nose is an explosion of candied raspberry mingled with notes of black cherry and toasted vanilla. On the palate, the experience is round and enveloping, marked by finely crafted tannins. Black fruit aromas unfold harmoniously. The particularly fleshy finish expresses blackcurrant and grilled, caramelized notes. An opulent wine that pairs beautifully with Southwestern French dishes and oriental flavors.

Château du Pouey

South-West | France

Located in the South-West, Château du Pouey is a family estate situated on south and south-east facing slopes, overlooking the Pyrenees mountain range. The vineyard now spans approximately 22 hectares, having started with a much smaller area.

The estate played a pioneering role in introducing grape varieties such as Petit Manseng and Gros Manseng to the region. The vines are managed using sustainable viticulture practices, with particular attention paid to preserving natural balances and ensuring consistent ripeness. The soils, composed of clay and gravel, provide favorable conditions for diverse expressions, depending on the plots and their exposures.

The wines are crafted with a focus on controlled richness and lusciousness, without aiming for standardization. Vinification and aging processes are conducted to preserve the fruit expression and varietal typicity, offering profiles ranging ... Read more
