Our Review of the Cuvée

On the nose, Cuvée Maxime reveals profound aromas reminiscent of the Languedoc garrigue. On the palate, it presents a velvety texture, reinforced by an admirably balanced structure. The tannins are fine and well-integrated, making the wine very enjoyable even now. This Mourvèdre will delight with its complexity and its ability to evolve over time. To be savored with meat dishes such as leg of lamb or duck with olives, this wine will also enhance flavorful porcini mushrooms or a morel sauce after a few years of cellaring.

Syrah dominates here without overpowering the other elements: in Minervois, Michel Escande has patiently crafted a style that is ample yet never massive. The old vines, rooted in the limestone hillsides, yield juices that reveal a tight grain, consistent depth, and an unexpected freshness. Extended aging refines the contours while preserving a natural spicy character. A short sentence. The estate embodies a certain Languedoc classicism, but a vibrant, thoughtful classicism, focused on precision rather than raw power.
