Terres Salées Rouge 2023

Coteaux de Narbonne et Terres de Pérignan | Rouge | 2023

This Merlot, grown on vines approximately fifty years old, is cultivated on a unique terroir—a former salt marsh—that provides exceptional growing conditions. Because the vines are root-pruned, their roots have grown deep into the soil, ensuring uniform ripening. The winemaking process emphasizes quality, with punch-down extraction aimed at extracting the finest tannins. Aging in barrels for several months imparts aroma to the wine while adding a subtle woody touch to its natural saline notes.

Our Review of the Cuvée

From the very first whiff, this Merlot reveals an alluring complexity, marked by enveloping woody aromas and an unexpected maritime freshness. On the palate, it reveals a velvety texture, where the tannins are present yet delicately polished. The salty minerality adds a surprising dimension, making each sip both rich and balanced. Carefully controlled aging in new barrels imparts a woody depth that integrates perfectly with the long, mouth-watering finish. Best enjoyed slowly, ideally with a grilled rib of beef, to fully reveal its potential.

Château Bouisset

Languedoc | France

On the limestone soils of La Clape, Château Bouisset cultivates Syrah and Mourvèdre with the aim of producing full-bodied yet structured reds. The sea breeze brings a welcome freshness that tightens the juices and lightens the region’s natural power. The wines feature generous black fruit, a spicy structure, and a broad yet disciplined texture. The aging, carefully managed, supports the body without hardening it. A winery that clearly highlights the uniqueness of this windswept Mediterranean plateau.
