Our Review of the Cuvée
Les Galets
EARL Les Galets operates Domaine Les Aphillanthes, located in Travaillan (84850), in the Rhône Valley. The estate produces wines under the Côtes du Rhône, Côtes du Rhône Villages Plan de Dieu, Rasteau, and other Côtes du Rhône Villages appellations, utilizing typical southern grape varieties such as Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Viognier, Roussanne, and Clairette. The vines have been cultivated without herbicides or synthetic products since 2003, and viticulture has been conducted under certified organic and biodynamic farming practices since approximately 2007.
Vinification involves hand-sorted grapes, fermented in vats, then aged in concrete tanks and barrels depending on the cuvée. The estate aims to extract the best from each parcel through extended vinification processes, with maceration periods potentially lasting up to 35 days. I have not found a precise date for the estate's establishment prior to this modern information.
