The winemaking process for this Pineau d'Aunis is distinguished by fermentation in truncated-cone oak vats, followed by maceration in semi-carbo vats for 15 to 21 days. This method combines tradition and innovation to enhance the grape variety’s unique character. Six months of aging in demi-muids and Burgundy barrels imparts a refined structure that preserves the fruit’s integrity. The clay-flint and sandy soils, along with vines ranging from 3 to 80 years old, contribute to the complexity of this exceptional wine.

Our Review of the Cuvée

This Pineau d'Aunis reveals a captivating nose with notes of red berries and a subtle peppery nuance. On the palate, it is vibrant and fresh, offering a delicate texture that pleasantly envelops the palate. Its slender structure reflects fine craftsmanship, supported by a delicate minerality derived from the flinty clay soils. The fine tannins lend an elegant smoothness, and the finish leaves a lingering impression of red berries and spices.

At Puzelat, the philosophy is not to correct the wine, but to guide it. Producing Gamay or Menu Pineau in Touraine thus becomes an exercise in controlled freedom. The cuvées often display very open, almost juicy fruit, yet are supported by an acidic backbone that keeps them precise. They are uniquely themselves. This has been the house's signature for decades.
