Mondeuse Marie Clothilde 2024

Savoie | Rouge | 2024

La Mondeuse des Châteaux is crafted from a meticulous selection of grapes harvested from 60-year-old vines. Hand-picking ensures optimal quality, with careful transport in small crates. This attention to detail continues with a precise winemaking process that includes partial destemming, rigorous sorting, and cold maceration, followed by controlled fermentation. Aging in 600-liter demi-muids for 6 to 8 months completes the wine’s elegant and harmoniously balanced structure.

Our Review of the Cuvée

At first glance, the deep, intense color of this Mondeuse hints at a distinctive character. On the nose, delicate aromas of black fruit emerge, enhanced by a subtle spicy note. On the palate, the wine offers a clean attack, with refined tannins that create a silky texture. Aging in wood lends a certain roundness, while the finish reveals mineral nuances reminiscent of the loamy soil of the Châteaux. This wine is an ideal discovery for lovers of character.

At the heart of the Chignin Bergeron vineyard, Adrien Berlioz is now one of the most distinctive voices in Savoie wine. Located in Chignin, in the Alpine foothills of Savoie, he took over the family estate in 2006 and gradually transformed it into a respected artisanal benchmark for the quality of his wines and the clarity of his approach.

Adrien's vineyard spans approximately 7 hectares, divided into 17 micro-parcels, often situated on steep slopes that can reach a 50% gradient, necessitating entirely manual intervention. The clay-limestone soils, rich in scree, moraines, and schist, impart an intense mineral energy and precise maturity to the grapes, characteristic of the region's steep terroirs.
