This wine is a Malbec made from 30-year-old vines planted on limestone soil on a second terrace. Cultivated using organic farming methods, the vines are planted at a density of 4,500 vines per hectare, with yields limited to 50 hl/ha. Harvesting is partially done by hand. The winemaking process is characterized by early harvesting and short maceration periods, thereby avoiding overly intense extraction. Aged for six months in stainless steel and concrete tanks, this wine contains no added sulfites.

Our Review of the Cuvée

Visually, this Malbec boasts a dark, almost opaque purple hue. The bouquet is particularly expressive, blending aromas of blackberry and black cherry, enhanced by hints of stone fruit and spice. On the palate, the texture is round and velvety, offering dense body and vibrant fruit. A slight effervescence from carbon dioxide fades after vigorous decanting, revealing a flavorful and indulgent finish. The long finish of blackberry and cocoa offers a rich and memorable sensory experience.

Located on the hillsides of Luzech, in the Cahors appellation, Château Les Croisille is a family-owned estate founded in 1979 by Bernard and Cécile Croisille. The vineyard, which initially consisted of fallow plots, was gradually brought back into production, with the first harvest taking place in the mid-1980s.

The estate has evolved over time, with its first bottling in the late 1980s, followed by the move into its own cellars in the early 2000s. In 2008, Germain Croisille joined the estate and began the transition to organic farming, culminating in certification two years later. The estate is now a member of the Vignerons de Nature group, which brings together producers committed to practices that respect the terroir.

The vineyard is situated on iron-rich limestone soils, which are particularly well-suited to the expression of Malbec, Cahors’s signature grape variety. The harvest is increasingly being carried out ... Read more
