THE VALUES WE HOLD DEAR
Promote direct purchases from small-scale winemakers through short supply chains
Since 2014, our mission has been to help everyone buy better wine and to highlight the men and women behind the bottle.
Whether in stores or restaurants, you often see the same 1,000 winemakers.
Why is that? Being a winemaker is a demanding profession. You have to plant the vines, tend to them, and harvest the grapes. You have to ferment the juice, blend the wines, and bottle them. And finally, you have to distribute the wine.
That’s why 97% of winemakers don’t have enough time to manage their distribution. That’s 30,000 small-scale winemakers whose wines we never get to taste—a real shame for our palates. We created Les Grappes to make it easier to discover these winemakers. We’re reinventing the distribution and marketing of wines from independent winemakers, for both consumers and professionals, in France and around the world.
Wines they make with their hearts, their grapes, and their hands.
Supporting winemakers in distribution
At Les Grappes, we’ve decided to put the power back in the hands of winemakers by making it easy for them to sell directly to their customers.
The added value for winemakers:
- A single platform to be seen and to make yourself visible
- A centralized logistics solution for shipping their wines in quantities of three bottles or more
- An e-commerce platform for processing online payments
- A streamlined order management interface
This direct-from-the-estate model also allows winemakers to retain control over distribution and keep 80% of their profit margin. This is how we at Les Grappes position ourselves as part of a movement dedicated to the common good, with a clear goal: to ensure that our impact on society is positive. And by supporting independent winemakers, we are part of the “tech for good” movement in the wine industry.
Supporting independent winemakers
Behind the label are the men and women we’re always eager to meet.
We step into their vineyards to see what they’re doing there, and then share the stories of these passionate winemakers.
Founded in 2014 by 20 winemakers, the community now brings together more than 1,200 dedicated producers.
A selection exclusively of wines from grower-winemakers who cultivate their own vineyards and produce wine from their own grapes grown on their own land. To ensure you make the right choice, look for the letters “N” for “Négociant” and “R” for “Récoltant” on the tax stamp (the famous Marianne) affixed to the bottle’s cork.
Environmental awareness
At Les Grappes, we champion winemakers who make strong commitments. Climate change affects us all, and our wine industry is among the first to be impacted by these changes. We are committed to highlighting winemakers who practice sustainable agriculture, produce organic wines, and develop methods for reusing resources.
