Cour-Cheverny | White | 2023

This wine is made entirely from the Romorantin grape variety, grown on vines between 5 and 20 years old rooted in clay-siliceous soil. The grapes are carefully hand-harvested before being vinified and aged in stainless steel and concrete tanks. Malolactic fermentation is carried out, imparting a rounded texture and added complexity. Thanks to its dry character, this wine is ready to enjoy now, while also having the potential to reveal new facets with aging of 2 to 4 years.

Our opinion on the vintage

From the first glance, this wine captivates with its brilliant, straw-yellow color. On the nose, it offers a complex and refined bouquet of candied white fruits, honey, and spices. On the palate, there is a perfect balance between generous richness and lively tension, enhanced by a delicate acidity. Its texture is both round and ethereal, reminiscent of pear flesh with a subtle tannic grain. The finish lingers pleasantly, marked by a chalky astringency and a noble bitterness reminiscent of bitter orange and quinine, all sublimated by persistent notes of spice and dried pear. A remarkably fresh wine, perfect for delightful tasting discoveries.

In Cheverny, Domaine Tessier, run by Philippe Tessier, consistently cultivates the region's emblematic grape varieties: Romorantin, Sauvignon Blanc, and Gamay. The vineyard is managed organically, with particular attention paid to the quality of the raw materials and the balance of the soils.

The winemaking process follows a natural, minimal-intervention approach, aiming to preserve the clarity of the fruit and the precision of the balance. The white wines favor vertical and taut profiles, driven by consistent acidity and a clear expression of the grape varieties. The reds, on the other hand, are distinguished by their freshness and a very fluid texture, achieved through judicious extraction.

All the wines are characterized by great clarity and a marked stylistic consistency. The estate offers a luminous and precise expression of Cheverny, now recognized as an essential benchmark of the appellation.
