Malepère | Rouge | 2025

Created by Jeff Carrel, this Malepère showcases a still-little-known appellation in the Pyrenean foothills, where Mediterranean and oceanic influences converge. A blend of equal parts Merlot and Malbec, it is made from grapes grown on the slopes of Mont Naut, in the westernmost vineyard of the Languedoc. Vinified without added sulfites and subtly aged in oak, it expresses a rich, precise, and resolutely fruit-forward style, true to Jeff Carrel’s philosophy: to offer accessible, authentic, and generous wines.

Our Review of the Cuvée

The wine displays a beautiful, deep, luminous purple color. The nose opens with vibrant aromas of freshly picked red and black fruits, accented by a subtle hint of spice.
On the palate, the attack is supple and indulgent, supported by a juicy texture, lovely freshness, and silky tannins. The wine as a whole offers a remarkable balance between richness and finesse, with a lingering finish that leaves you wanting more.
Best served between 14 and 16°C, it pairs perfectly with grilled meats, a rib of beef, or a pan-seared medley of seasonal vegetables.
