Our story

It is a beautiful story between Norge Larson, a physicist from Seattle, and Philippe Bernard, a winegrower from Vaucluse. The first one comes to spend his vacations in Sarrians where he rents a gîte to the second one, owner of the domain La Ligière. Twenty years around the passion of wine forge a beautiful friendship. The enthusiasm is communicative as the desire to buy a pied à terre for Norge and his wife Arlène. The opportunity came one day.

Philippe Bernard discovers the rare pearl. Ten hectares of vines, certified AB, including 7 in AOC Vacqueyras and a ruined sheepfold almost next to La Ligière, how could he refuse? A well-considered decision and here is our American couple as owners. If Norge entrusts the management of the vineyards and the cellar to Philippe, the project is set up together, with the common ambition to wake up the sleeping beauty and transform it into a place dedicated to wine tourism.

The bet is successful! The 13th century sheepfold has regained its Provencal patina and the adjoining cottage looks like something out of a postcard. On the cellar side, the technology and the Italian design are of the most beautiful effect. Built according to the Toyota system (analyze, design hierarchically by eliminating the superfluous), it is shaped like an arena. Above, the cellar, reception room, lounge and restaurant space in the making are integrated into the heart of the vineyard. Elegance and sobriety to sum up.

Other little stories

For me, being a winegrower means being a craftsman of his land. He knows his secrets and how to transcribe them through his vintages. We are fortunate to have a unique estate, thanks in particular to the 2.5 hectare lake in the centre of the estate. Our vines thus have access to water on dry land that is very exposed to the elements. We find this trait of character in fine and elegant wines, nicely concentrated but without excess.

"For me, Château Bois d'Arlène is above all the fruit of a beautiful friendship. It is also a personal satisfaction to revive this place which has certainly been very important in the life and development of my region in the past. "
