At Château des Bachelards, we have been growing organic and biodynamic vines since 2007. This is the only domain that is doubly certified organic and biodynamic with the Demeter label of its appellations. Chateau des Bachelards is a pioneer in the region, the vineyard was created by the monks of Cluny in the 11th century. The vines cover 12 hectares, including 6 hectares in the Fleurie appellation. The other parcels are in Moulin-à-Vent and Saint-Amour. We also produce a white Burgundy wine from the Chardonnay grape variety in the Pouilly-Vinzelles appellation. The wines obtain the highest marks from French and international critics. Wine tourism activities are also recognized for their level of quality: Chateau des Bachelards won the prize organized by the magazine Terre de Vins and is among the 100 best estates in France in this field. In 2017, Château des Bachelards was awarded the "Fermes d'Avenir" prize for the whole of Burgundy. This prize rewards the organic quality of the estate as well as that of the biotop. A label that counts for Alexandra de Vazeilles, because it shows her constant commitment to the respect of her terroir and the ecosystems planted on her vineyard.
The Château des Bachelards is the soul of Fleurie. It owes its existence to the Benedictine monks of the Abbey of Cluny who built it in the 11th century. It is the southernmost monastic property in Burgundy. Bachelor's degrees in the language of the eye means "place of God". During the Revolution, the abbey was destroyed but the farm and other buildings remained. They now form the Château des Bachelards. Alexandra de Vazeilles is the third owner.
At Chateau des Bachelards we love to receive guests and that is why we have put in place an offer and courses of the highest quality. Indeed, Château des Bachelards is a pioneer in its appellation in many respects:- Agroforestry in the vineyards for the balance of the biotope and biodiversity - Ouessant sheep for their presence alone as well as the fertilization of the soil - Bees naturally arrived, Permaculture vegetable garden- Herbalism at the château for our biodynamic herbal teas- High trellising in acacia stakes because we are looking for aromas and complexity- Very high density (10,000 vines per hectare), small yields- Very old vines in massale because the Bachelard plants are unique- Manual harvest, Gravity reception, so as not to damage the fruit - Indigenous yeasts only, otherwise the wines are technological - Two-year ageing because our terroir requires proof of its greatness - Never chemistry, only natural and no carbonic or thermovinification - Member of Renaissance des Appellations, the group of the world's leading estates in biodynamic agriculture, - Member of the Abbayes Wines group, etc.We will be at your disposal to adapt our wine tourism offer to your requests and questions of the moment.
