Anecdotes from the Estate: As a winemaker from a long line of winemakers, I feel compelled to think of future generations. Therefore, we do everything we can to ensure respect for nature. To promote biodiversity, we also manage a nearby forest park of the same size. We cultivate our vines using traditional plowing methods, add no pesticides, and work with our own plant-based compost. Thus, "cultivated like a garden," our vines delight us each year with concentrated and flavorful grapes. The Estate's History: Clos Floridène is a vineyard established by Denis and Florence Dubourdieu in 1982. The vineyard's name comes from combining their first names. At the time, Denis was a Professor at the Faculty of Oenology in Bordeaux, Vice-President of the Institute of Vine and Wine Sciences, and a consultant. It was his thirst for new challenges that led him to expand the vineyard alongside his other activities. He notably acquired plots of land in the communes of Pujols-sur-Ciron and Illats. In 2005, he initiated the creation of a winery specific to the estate, as the wines had previously been vinified at Château Renon. Today, his son, Jean-Jacques, runs the estate with as much passion and enthusiasm as his father, a professor and mentor. The pride of the estate, Le Clos Floridène, is a flagship Bordeaux estate, part of the Domaines Denis Dubourdieu group. It comprises 17 hectares of red grape varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot) and 23 hectares of white grape varieties (Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscadelle). With precision and passion, Jean-Jacques Dubourdieu crafts wines whose smoothness and vibrant aromas of fresh fruit reveal a true family passion.
