3 Essential Sporting Events in the Vineyards
We now offer solutions tailored to our most physically fit wine tourists, allowing them to combine their passion with the discovery of wines and the winemaking craft. Here are a few of them.
The Baux-de-Provence Car Rally
Don’t know anything about wine or cars? No problem! This car rally is perfect for all ages, featuring visits to wineries and olive oil mills. Whether you’re with family or friends, the winemakers will welcome you into their cellars. For a weekend, the Baux-de-Provence AOP appellation becomes your own. You’ll discover its terroir and traditions through three different routes, punctuated by stops at three estates and an olive oil mill.
Domaine Dalmeran, Château Romanin, and Mas de Gourgonnier will open their doors to you for the weekend. Each team will consist of 2 to 5 people and will attempt to answer the quiz, which participants will turn in at the end of the tour.
The Médoc Marathon
Since 1985, thousands of runners have taken to the streets every September for 42.2 kilometers of pure enjoyment. Starting in Pauillac, you’ll have the chance to run through the most prestigious appellations of the Bordeaux Wine Route, such as Saint-Estèphe, Saint-Julien, and Haut-Médoc. Thanks to this must-attend event, which drew nearly 8,000 participants in 2017, you can run in a relaxed atmosphere.
On the agenda: 42 kilometers of fun with some… rather special stops! Locals and the approximately 3,000 participants from abroad will have the chance to discover the region’s wines at 23 stands scattered along the route. They’ll be welcomed by a band and a wine expert (present at each of the 23 stands) who will help you appreciate the local terroirs. Put on your running shoes!
The Vin’4 Hours Rally: A Student Wine Tourism Event
Hundreds of participants will take part this year in the 27th edition of this wonderful event. Organized by the KEDGE Business School wine club, this car rally cleverly combines visits to châteaux with exploring the region through a series of puzzles. Let’s be environmentally friendly: you’ll need to travel as few kilometers as possible to get from one estate to the next! That’s what earned the event its ecofest label!
Throughout the journey, you’ll enjoy the Bordeaux countryside with the window open, the wind in your hair, and your taste buds tingling. Your wine tourism weekend will feature wine-themed costume parties, a team-building dinner, and a grand closing dinner to wrap up the rally.
Do you enjoy meeting new people, 2CV convertibles, wine, and all things wine-related? Then this event is for you!
