Buvette, the best spot in South Pigalle
How do you reconcile a wine lover, a foodie, and a friend who likes cozy-but-not-too-cozy atmospheres? Buvette has found the solution. Proof? This "gastronomic haven" on Rue Henri Monnier has been packed since it opened in 2013.
Refreshment stand: a success with a New York accent

Contrary to what its name might suggest, Buvette was first created in New York by Jody Williams in 2010. Having become the go-to French gourmet spot in the West Village within a few years, Jody had the brilliant idea of giving credit where credit is due: opening a Buvette in Paris. And she knows how to do it! On both sides of the Atlantic, the concept remains the same; only the products change. In Paris, she forges relationships with passionate suppliers like Benoit Enicolo (a colleague of Desnoyer) for meat, Christophe Guitard for the wine cellar, and many others to create truly dazzling dining experiences.
Bistronomic dishes to be enjoyed with good wine at Buvette
At 9 pm in South Pigalle, the restaurant is buzzing with activity. Some are engrossed in the extensive and creative wine list: appellations from Burgundy , Corsica , Alsace … and a selection of natural wines. Others are salivating over the bistronomic menu, which changes seasonally and offers something for everyone.

Original open-faced sandwiches (€7), homemade charcuterie (€9), lovely French dishes (€12-14), farm cheeses (€7), and sweet treats (€8) are all on offer. First, the meal begins with a Saumur white, "Arcane" from Château de Fosse-Sèche (€32): we approve of its subtle aroma, its freshness, and its beautiful roundness on the palate. Second, we generously nibble on the open-faced sandwiches with Aligot, the traditional Coq au Vin, or the delicate salmon rillettes. Finally, we indulge in THE Tarte Tatin, which will delight even the most discerning palates.
With Jody Williams, taste is also expressed through the setting.
In this setting that blends marble, raw materials, and tasteful details, you won't be surprised to encounter a taxidermied bird watching you eat. Too much staging, you say? Quite the contrary, the atmosphere here is authentic and vibrant thanks to its local clientele and a few foreigners who have clearly landed in the right place. Not to mention the bustling waiters who keep the service flowing smoothly, both chic and friendly. So no more excuses, this is the recipe for success, you'll only find it at Buvette. Get your glasses ready, set, go!
