A Northerner in Bordeaux

Diary #2: In the North, they say you cry twice: when you arrive and when you leave. Before settling in the Bordeaux region , I lived in Lille. The son of a farmer, I discovered the winemaking profession thanks to my wife, Maria, who had wine in her blood! Embarking on this adventure, this work quickly became a passion. I am constantly striving to find the right balance between the soil, the grape variety, and the work involved in order to produce the best grapes: essential to the success of a good wine. It's a privilege to be a part of it!

In the heart of the Entre-deux-Mers vineyards

Following successive acquisitions of plots, the estate now covers 70 hectares, placing us in line with the average size for the Bordeaux region. We are located in the commune of Haux, in the heart of the Entre-deux-Mers vineyards, but within the Cadillac and Côtes de Bordeaux appellations. This vineyard is less (re)known than the prestigious Médoc or Graves , but it boasts a fantastic terroir, predominantly clay-limestone and rich in marine sediments, which gives our Côtes-de-Bordeaux wines a first-rate freshness and deliciousness!

We are convinced that we are surrounded by gold

Maria and I officially took over the property in the early 2000s. I'm originally from the Lille region, and we met while studying agronomy and agriculture. I was immediately captivated by the property, of course, but also by the work in the vineyards, which is so rewarding (even if sometimes a bit tough). We are convinced that we are surrounded by a treasure, and it is our duty to care for it responsibly so that we can pass on a healthy, thriving vineyard rich in biodiversity to our children. Therefore, we are working with the Bayer laboratory on a sustainable agriculture project on the estate. Its aim is to preserve, maintain, and develop the ecosystem that surrounds us. Specifically, we have installed insect hotels on the property and reintroduced certain species. En travaillant directement avec plus de 500 vignerons, nous sélectionnons des cuvées que nous aimons vraiment et que nous avons envie de vous faire découvrir.

Ce blog est le prolongement de cette aventure. On y partage nos découvertes, nos conseils, nos coups de cœur, nos meilleurs accords mets-vins, des idées de dégustation et tout ce qui nous anime au quotidien autour du vin.

L'objectif est simple : vous aider à choisir des bouteilles qui vous ressemblent et à prendre encore plus de plaisir à les déguster.
