A 'Ch'ti' in Bordeaux

Diary #2: They say that in the North, you cry twice: when you arrive and when you leave. Before moving to the Bordeaux region, I lived in Lille.

In the heart of the Entre-deux-Mers wine region

Following a series of land acquisitions, the estate now spans 70 hectares, placing us in the average range for the Bordeaux region. We are located in the town of Haux, right in the heart of the Entre-deux-Mers wine region, but within the Cadillac and Côtes de Bordeaux appellations. It is a less well-known vineyard than the great Médoc or Graves regions, but it boasts a fantastic terroir, dominated by clay-limestone and rich in marine sediments, which gives our Côtes-de-Bordeaux wines a freshness and a deliciousness of the highest quality!

We are convinced that we are surrounded by gold

Maria and I officially took over the estate in the early 2000s. I’m originally from the Lille area, and we met while studying agronomy and agriculture. I was immediately drawn to the estate, of course, but also to the work in the vineyards, which is so rewarding (even if it can be a bit tough at times). We are convinced that we are surrounded by a treasure, and it is our duty to care for it responsibly so that we can pass on a healthy, thriving vineyard rich in biodiversity to our children. To that end, we are collaborating with Bayer on a sustainable agriculture project at the estate. Its goal is to preserve, maintain, and develop the ecosystem around us. Specifically, we have installed insect hotels on the property and reintroduced certain species. It is such a pleasure and such a sight to see them foraging on sunny days!...
