Discover in video: the South Ardèche vineyard, between wine and water

In the southern Ardèche, the vineyards produce Côtes du Rhône , Côtes du Rhône Villages , and Côtes du Vivarais appellation wines. They benefit from diverse terroirs and magnificent landscapes shaped by water, starting with the Rhône River to the east. It has sculpted hillsides and terraces that benefit not only the vineyards but also cyclists who can follow its course for several kilometers along the ViaRhôna cycle route.

All beneath our feet, the passage of water has patiently sculpted the rock over 15,000 years. Cavities, sinkholes, and other caves have thus formed, some of which are true marvels that can be visited. This soil, both calcareous and mineral, gives its identity to the wines of the Ardèche .

To the south, the Ardèche River sets the rhythm of the landscape. It meanders for over 22 km, gently plunging into gorges with slopes wooded by holm oaks and limestone cliffs. Here, it's the athletes who frequent the area. The vineyards, however, remain behind, basking in the sun on limestone soils.
