Dive into the Discovery of Costières de Nîmes!
For this edition of “Instant Vignobles de la Vallée du Rhône,” Laetitia Allemand takes us on a journey through the Costières de Nîmes AOC. Nestled between the scrubland to the north and the lakes of the Petite Camargue to the south, the appellation’s vineyards are situated on a series of small hills and plateaus.
Take a closer look at this historic and exceptional vineyard!
A vineyard under a positive influence
This region is often seen as a bridge between Provence and the Camargue, as it features the rounded pebble soils typical of the Rhône Valley and a Mediterranean climate. The vineyards benefit from the Camargue’s maritime influence, which brings a refreshing thermal breeze, and from the purifying effect of the mistral.
When it comes to environmental stewardship and landscape conservation, the AOC’s winemakers are quite progressive. In fact, 20% of the appellation’s vineyards are certified organic!
The vineyard’s diverse influences allow winemakers to craft a lovely variety of wines, mostly reds, though the whites and rosés are also very enjoyable!
