The 2015 vintage at Château La Tour de By: a sure bet!
Diary Entry #4 of Benjamin Richer de Forges du Château La Tour de By : We must thank Nature, which first offered us a superb end to spring last year. After a somewhat timid appearance of the buds during the second half of April 2015, the beautiful weather settled in at the end of May to encourage flowering. It ended in mid-June with particularly dry and sunny weather, exceptional according to meteorologists. Everything was therefore very promising for an exceptional 2015 vintage…
The 2015 grape harvest at Château La Tour de By
Then, July brought us some lovely periods of warmth, with a few scorching days, but without reaching the extreme temperatures of 2003. August followed the same pattern, with, like the end of July, the welcome relief of a few short rainy spells. These came at just the right time, providing the water needed for the grapes to regain their size. A real advantage for completing their ripening, accompanied by excellent health!
In these perfect conditions, the harvest began on September 28, 2015, on the first Merlot plots. Despite some rain during the harvest, the grapes, thanks to a thick skin, continued to ripen well. We were therefore able to take our time and harvest over three weeks. The harvest concluded with the last of the Cabernet Sauvignon on October 14.
2015 vintage: a true "red diamond," deep and unique
We were thus able to harvest bunches of concentrated, very ripe grapes, with a deep, almost black color. The meticulous winemaking that followed in the heart of our cellars allowed us to shape this true "red diamond," giving it a deep, unique brilliance and revealing its magnificent structure with extreme care, while emphasizing the intensity and complexity of its aromas. This precious alchemy within our large oak casks has translated the richness of our terroir, with crisp fruit and exceptionally velvety tannins.

The 2015 vintage of Château La Tour de By: a legendary vintage like those of 2005 and 2010
The blends we were able to create from January 4th onwards with our consulting oenologist, Eric Boissenot, impressed us: The 2015 vintage is a powerful wine, with fine and elegant tannins, with a great deal of character that already reminds us of the legendary 2005 and the unmissable 2010. A straightforward and precise wine! It already enters the select circle of legendary years on our family estate of La Tour de By .
Following this observation, it is clear that this 2015 vintage in Bordeaux will be a sure bet and an important wine to have in your cellar if you like exceptional vintages!
Therefore, in vintages like this, buying En Primeur is the best option to ensure you can get a few bottles at the best price. At La Tour de By, our loyal customers know this and benefit from a discount of nearly 40% compared to the future price of the wine once it's bottled… It would be a shame to miss out!
