2015 Vintage at Château La Tour de By
We have Nature to thank for giving us a wonderful late spring. After a tentative emergence of buds in April 2015, fine weather set in at the end of May, encouraging the flowers to bloom.
The 2015 Harvest at Château La Tour de By
Then, July treated us to some lovely stretches of warm weather, including a few scorching days, though we didn’t experience the extreme temperatures of 2003. As for August, it followed a similar pattern, with—just like at the end of July—the welcome arrival of a few brief rain showers. These came at just the right time, providing exactly the water needed for the grape clusters to regain their volume. These were real assets for bringing them to full maturity, accompanied by excellent health!
Under these ideal conditions, the harvest began on September 28, 2015, with the first Merlot plots. Although rain fell at times during the harvest, the grapes continued to ripen well thanks to their thick skins. We were therefore able to take our time and harvest over a three-week period. The harvest concluded with the final Cabernet Sauvignon grapes on October 14.
The 2015 vintage: a true "red diamond"—deep and unique
We were thus able to harvest clusters of concentrated, very ripe grapes with a deep, almost black color. The meticulous winemaking process that followed in our cellars allowed us to craft this true “red diamond,” giving it a deep, unique brilliance and revealing its magnificent structure with the utmost care, while emphasizing the intensity and complexity of its aromas. This precious alchemy within our casks has successfully captured the richness of our terroir, with crisp fruit and velvety tannins.
Our Estate's Favorite Cuvées:
The 2015 vintage of Château La Tour de By: a legendary vintage, just like those of 2005 and 2010
The blends we were able to create starting on January 4 with our consulting oenologist, Eric Boissenot, have impressed us: The 2015 vintage is a powerful wine, with fine, elegant tannins and great character, already reminding us of the legendary 2005 and the unmissable 2010. A wine of integrity and precision! It has already joined the select circle of legendary vintages at our family estate, La Tour de By.
Given this assessment, it is clear that the 2015 vintage in Bordeaux will be a safe bet and an essential addition to any cellar for those who appreciate exceptional vintages!
So, for a vintage like this, buying en primeur is the way to go to ensure you can get a few bottles at the best possible price. At La Tour de By, our loyal customers know this and enjoy a discount of nearly 40% off the future price of the wine once it’s bottled… It would be a shame to miss out!
