Clos Des Vins d’Amour

Alcôve 2024

Maury | Rouge | 2024

Alcôve is a Maury *vin doux naturel* (VDN) cuvée, crafted entirely from Grenache Noir, an emblematic grape variety of Roussillon. Its richness is derived from the diverse terroirs of Tautavel, Maury, and Saint-Paul-de-Fenouillet, blending black schist, clay-limestone, and clay-schist soils.

Hand-harvested with rigorous sorting, the grapes are precisely vinified: a short fermentation is followed by *mutage sur grains* (fortification on skins), then an extended maceration. Aging in French oak barrels for 10 months, without seeking pronounced oak influence (using old barrels), refines the structure while preserving the fruit's integrity.

This cuvée combines power, lusciousness, and elegance, in a style true to traditional grand Maury wines.

Our Review of the Cuvée

The color is superb, a beautiful dark cherry red with violet reflections.
Aromas of red fruits,
particularly redcurrants, are initially expressed on the nose, evolving towards spices.
The palate reveals very
fine tannins with notes of strawberry and blackberry, contributing to a lovely sweetness on the finish.
To be enjoyed as an aperitif or with dessert, such as red fruit tart, chocolate, coffee, and cigars.

Clos Des Vins d’Amour

Clos Des Vins d’Amour

Roussillon | France

Located in Roussillon, Clos des Vins d’Amour is a family vineyard with origins dating back to 1860. Currently managed by the Dornier family, the estate spans three major and complementary sectors: Tautavel, Maury, and Saint-Paul-de-Fenouillet, all characterized by demanding schist soils, emblematic of northern Roussillon.

The vineyard is predominantly planted with Grenache (Noir, Gris, and Blanc), complemented by old Carignan vines, as well as Macabeu and Syrah depending on the parcels. These contrasting terroirs allow for a nuanced interpretation of Maury appellations, encompassing both dry wines and *vins doux naturels* (VDN), with consistent attention paid to balance rather than ostentation.

Organic viticulture, implemented since 2008, is part of a holistic approach to living ecosystems. Soil cultivation is primarily manual, attuned to natural rhythms and biodiversity. The objective is not intervention for its own sake, but the pursuit of sustainable balance ... Read more
