Château des Annereaux, within the Lalande de Pomerol appellation, embodies the excellence of family viticulture since 1390, producing distinctive, age-worthy wines cultivated organically on Bordeaux's gravelly-sandy terroirs. Adopting an agro-ecological approach, Benjamin Hessel passionately perpetuates this legacy, preserving the environment through the planting of hedges, fruit trees, beehives, and flowering fallows. A historically rich estate where determination and innovation have consistently prevailed, yielding wines of remarkable power and elegance.

Our Review of the Cuvée

This wine presents an elegant nose of clove, black pepper, and dark fruits, heralding a rich sensory experience. On the palate, the attack is luscious and velvety, with a creamy texture that coats the mouth. The palate persistence leads to an extended finish characterized by coated tannins, offering a harmonious and balanced tasting experience. Ideal for pairing with red meats, game, poultry, or cheeses, it can be enjoyed now or cellared for the next 15 years.

In Lalande-de-Pomerol, Château des Annereaux embodies an almost instinctive connection to the vineyard. Dominique, and subsequently Benjamin Hessel, have always maintained this profound bond with the land, the terroir, and the region. The estate has been managed with organic farming practices since 2007, with continuous attention paid to the natural balance of the vineyard and the finesse of the wines.

The winemaking philosophy primarily seeks elegance and drinkability. Extractions are carefully controlled, and aging is deliberately restrained—with approximately 25% new oak—to preserve the fruit and mouthfeel. The wines exhibit supple profiles with melted tannins, alongside precise and subtly spicy aromatics. They are enjoyable when young, while also possessing significant aging potential. This approach was notably recognized in 2018 when certain cuvées were selected for the Élysée Palace wine cellar.
