Champagne Bertrand-Delespierre

Champagne Origines Croisées Extra Brut 2013

Champagne | Blanc | 2013

This Extra Brut cuvée from Champagne Bertrand Delespierre is the result of a skillful blend of 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay, cultivated on Premier Cru vines. The vinification process, including partial fermentation in demi-muids without malolactic fermentation, imparts a unique structure to this champagne. Four years of aging on fine lees enhances the complexity of this wine. With a dosage of 6 g/l, it harmoniously combines finesse and roundness, creating an exceptional balance.

Our Review of the Cuvée

Upon initial observation, this champagne captivates with its pale, brilliant golden hue. On the nose, it reveals a richness of fresh citrus notes, combined with aromas of roasted apple and toasted brioche. On the palate, elegance is paramount, featuring a linear and enveloping texture. The delicate yet essential bubbles provide a thrilling freshness. The finish, subtly bitter and slightly astringent, extends the tasting experience with saline and toasted nuances, revealing the full personality of the Pinot Noirs. Pure magic for the senses.

Located in the heart of the Montagne de Reims, in the village of Chamery, Champagne Bertrand-Delespierre was founded in 1980 by our parents, Chantal and Didier Bertrand, both children of winemakers. Two generations now work side-by-side on the estate, as Adrien and Clémence are determined to continue their family's winemaking tradition. The family cultivates nearly 10 hectares of family vineyards located in the communes of Chamery, Ecueil, Villedommange, and Montbré, four villages among the 44 classified as Premier Crus in Champagne. The three main Champagne grape varieties are cultivated within the vineyard: two black varieties, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, and one white variety, Chardonnay. However, all yield a white juice when pressed at the estate using the traditional press. Burgundian and Champenois barrels are used for the fermentation and aging of certain wines. ... Read more
