Languedoc | Blanc | NM

In the heart of the Terrasses du Larzac region, Anne Laure Sicard crafts a "blanc de noirs" from Grenache Noir, showcasing the expertise she has honed around the world. Her method, which does not involve disgorgement, simply requires keeping the bottle upright before tasting, revealing a unique and distinctive wine. Currently in the process of converting to organic farming, her approach is rooted in a quest for naturalness and authenticity, offering a beautiful expression of her terroir at an altitude of 450 meters.

Our Review of the Cuvée

This wine offers a delicately fruity nose, with pleasant hints of red berries. From the first sip, there is a lovely freshness that evolves into a silky texture, characteristic of Grenache Noir vinified as a "blanc de noirs." The palate unfolds with a subtle minerality and a certain tension, reflecting the terroir at an altitude of 450 meters. There is no heaviness; everything is elegantly controlled, with a finish that lingers on fruity berry aromas, highlighting the finesse and balance of this remarkable cuvée.

Mas Lasta

Languedoc | France

Mas Lasta is a Languedoc-Roussillon wine estate located near Saint-Jean-de-la-Blaquière, established and managed by Anne-Laure Sicard, an agricultural engineer turned winemaker. The name 'Lasta' means 'last' in Esperanto, as the estate's parcels represent the final viticultural lands before the Terrasses du Larzac plateau.

The vineyard spans small terraced parcels at high altitudes (400–500 m), planted with old Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, and Carignan vines, cultivated using organic and biodynamic farming methods, occasionally assisted by animal traction. This meticulous vineyard management aims to revive artisanal viticulture that respects nature.

The wines of Mas Lasta, particularly the reds from the Terrasses du Larzac, are distinguished by their freshness, balanced structure, and aromatic expression of the high-altitude terroir, offering complex and harmonious profiles while embodying the purity and spontaneity of natural winemaking practices.
