Clos Rouge des Terrasses du Larzac embodies a philosophy of environmentally friendly viticulture. Without the use of chemical inputs, the estate employs natural methods such as liquid manure and herbal infusions. Hand-harvesting and gravity-fed vatting preserve the quality of the grapes, which are 100% Cinsault, a grape variety grown on red schist and pellite soils. Subtle winemaking with measured punch-downs promotes a harmonious extraction of aromas.

Our Review of the Cuvée

When tasting this wine, one is immediately captivated by its translucent garnet color. The nose, rich and complex, blends candied red fruits, sweet spices, and invigorating balsamic notes. On the palate, the wine is round and full-bodied, with a velvety texture that envelops the palate. Flavors of candied cherry and orange peel, accented with spices, provide lasting pleasure. A finish that dazzles with its persistence, confirming the exceptional character of the old-vine Cinsault from the unique terroirs of Saint-Jean-de-la-Blaquière.

Bordeaux | France

Located in Saint-Jean-de-la-Blaquière, in the heart of the Terrasses du Larzac appellation, Le Clos Rouge is a young winery founded in 2013. The vineyard is situated on hillsides ranging in elevation from 250 to 300 meters, in a landscape characterized by garrigue, olive trees, and oak trees, which contribute to the natural balance of the plots.

The first vineyards were planted with Cinsault, Grenache, and Syrah—the region’s signature grape varieties—and were soon supplemented by Carignan, broadening the estate’s range of expressions. This diversity of grape varieties offers a nuanced interpretation of the terroir, blending the freshness of high-altitude vineyards with Mediterranean ripeness and a gradually developing structure.

Since 2018, the vineyard has been managed using organic farming methods, with a particular focus on respecting the soil and integrating the vines into their natural landscape. The management of the plots prioritizes controlled yields and optimal ripeness in order to preserve the tension and distinct character unique to the Terrasses du Larzac.
