Le Clos Rouge
Located in Saint-Jean-de-la-Blaquière, in the heart of the Terrasses du Larzac appellation, Le Clos Rouge is a young estate founded in 2013. The vineyard is located on hillsides rising between 250 and 300 meters in altitude, in an environment marked by garrigue, olive trees and oaks, which contribute to the natural balance of the plots.
The initial plantings involved Cinsault, Grenache, and Syrah, emblematic grape varieties of the region, quickly complemented by Carignan, thus broadening the range of expressions offered by the estate. This diversity of grape varieties provides a nuanced interpretation of the terroir, balancing the freshness of high altitude, Mediterranean ripeness, and a progressive structure.
Since 2018, the vineyard has been managed organically, with particular attention paid to respecting the soil and integrating the vines into their natural landscape. The management of the plots prioritizes controlled yields and optimal ripeness, in order to preserve the tension and clarity characteristic of Terrasses du Larzac.
In the cellar, winemaking prioritizes honesty and balance over showmanship. Extractions are carefully measured to preserve supple tannins and immediate drinkability, while aging complements the wines without masking their origins. Each of the different cuvées reflects a facet of the vineyard, with profiles ranging from approachable and delicious to more structured expressions capable of aging.
Clos Rouge is thus among the newer estates of the Terrasses du Larzac that contribute to the appellation's qualitative momentum. A still young estate, but already clearly defined in its style, offering wines rooted in their landscape, balanced and true to the spirit of this high-altitude terroir.
