Our take on this vintage

Domaine Plageoles’ Mauzac Nature is one of the finest sparkling wines in southwestern France. Made from Mauzac grapes, this naturally sparkling wine is fresh, light, and delicious. A truly wonderful discovery. Domaine Plageoles produces some of the most original organic wines in southwestern France. Since 185, Domaine Plageoles has been producing Gaillac wine from local grape varieties such as Mauzac and Ondenc for white wines, and Duras, Braucol, and Prunelart for red wines. It has revived old grape varieties to carry on the tradition of the Gaillac vineyards.Domaine Plageoles cultivates its vines entirely naturally and uses very little sulfur in its wines. As a result, each cuvée offers a rich expression of fruit.

In Gaillac, Domaine Plageoles has been dedicated for several generations to promoting the native grape varieties of the Gaillac region, including Mauzac, Ondenc, Prunelart, and Duras. This long-term effort aims to preserve an ancient varietal heritage that is closely linked to the soils and climate of the plateau.

Each vintage explores a different facet of these grape varieties, with profiles ranging from light and airy to more structured expressions, always rooted in their terroir. The white wines are distinguished by their crisp structure and subtle bitterness that lingers on the finish, while the reds feature grainy tannins characteristic of the local varieties.

The winemaking process emphasizes a minimalist approach, with gentle aging to ensure the grapes’ natural character shines through. The estate’s work as a whole provides a clear and faithful reflection of the Gaillac vineyards, offering a precise understanding of their historical identity and diversity.
