Château D'Aydie

Odé d'Aydie 2023

Madiran | Rouge | 2023

Made from grapes grown on the hillsides of Saint-Lanne and Moncaup, this wine draws its character from two complementary terroirs, blending clay-limestone and clay soils interspersed with pebbles. The plots are vinified separately, with long, gentle macerations in wooden vats, to extract depth and body without losing balance. Aged for two years in wooden and concrete vats, the wine refines and gains harmony. Served at around 15–16°C, it is the perfect accompaniment to hearty dishes such as roast leg of lamb, beef bourguignon, or wood pigeon salmis.

Our Review of the Cuvée

A deep, intense red color. The nose is clean and elegant, dominated by dark fruits such as blueberries and blackberries, with a fresher touch of raspberry and blackcurrant, accented by subtle spicy notes. A charming wine, where power is always kept in check. It is ready to drink now, but will also age gracefully over the next 5 years.

Tannat rarely expresses itself with such mastery as it does at Laplace in Madiran. Extraction is controlled, and the wine is dense yet never overwhelming. The more approachable vintages offer a gentle interpretation of the grape variety. The more ambitious ones display remarkable length. In a nutshell: structure and clarity.
