This wine from Clos Rouge, nestled in the heart of the Terrasses du Larzac, is a fine example of innovation in sustainable viticulture. The vines, cultivated without chemical inputs, benefit from the effectiveness of natural liquid manure and traditional methods. Complete destemming of the grapes and manual vatting ensure a traditional approach, while 18 months of barrel aging adds a complex and refined dimension to this blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Cinsault.

Le Clos Rouge

Le Clos Rouge

Bordeaux | France

Located in Saint-Jean-de-la-Blaquière, in the heart of the Terrasses du Larzac appellation, Le Clos Rouge is a young winery founded in 2013. The vineyard is situated on hillsides ranging in elevation from 250 to 300 meters, in a landscape characterized by garrigue, olive trees, and oak trees, which contribute to the natural balance of the plots.

The first vineyards were planted with Cinsault, Grenache, and Syrah—the region’s signature grape varieties—and were soon supplemented by Carignan, broadening the estate’s range of expressions. This diversity of grape varieties offers a nuanced interpretation of the terroir, blending the freshness of high-altitude vineyards with Mediterranean ripeness and a gradually developing structure.

Since 2018, the vineyard has been managed using organic farming methods, with a particular focus on respecting the soil and integrating the vines into their natural landscape. The management of the plots prioritizes controlled yields and optimal ripeness in order to preserve the tension and distinct character unique to the Terrasses du Larzac.
