Mas del Périé

NDD Nectar des Dieux 2024

Cahors | Rouge | 2024

This wine, made from Grenache, Cinsault, Muscat de Hambourg, and Malbec grapes, stands out for its natural winemaking process without added sulfites. The grapes, grown on clay-limestone slopes, undergo whole-cluster maceration for 7 days in concrete tanks before aging for 9 months in barrels. This approach gives the wine a light and fresh texture, highlighting its fruity flavors while preserving its authentic and delicate character.

Our Review of the Cuvée

From the very first moment, this wine surprises with its translucent garnet and purple hues. On the nose, it reveals subtle aromas of candied red fruits, enhanced by a light hint of spice and a touch of creaminess. On the palate, it is round and full-bodied, with a light texture and striking freshness. This complexity gives way to a slightly tart finish, with notes of fresh raspberry, morello cherry, and a hint of spice, offering a delicious and refined aftertaste.

Mas del Périé - Fabien Jouves

Mas del Périé

Languedoc | France

In Cahors, Fabien Jouves manages Mas del Périé, employing a precise plot-by-plot approach to Malbec cultivation. The various cuvées are crafted based on the geology of the plateau and hillsides, contrasting calcareous soils, which impart verticality and tension, with deeper clay soils, which contribute body and density.

Biodynamic practices underpin the entire process, from soil management to vinification. The aging process utilizes various vessels—amphorae, foudres, and barriques—employed as fine-tuning tools to refine the profiles without obscuring the expression of the grape or the terroir.

The wines maintain a clear definition, featuring precise dark fruit and structures that are never heavy. The finishes remain discernible and balanced, reflecting an approach where each cuvée offers a distinct and coherent interpretation of the various facets of the Cahors plateau.
