In this edition of “Instant Vignobles de la Vallée du Rhône,” Laetitia Allemand takes us to the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail, an exceptional natural site that lends its distinctive character not only to the region’s landscapes but also to its wines.

In this idyllic setting, the vineyards cascade down steep slopes in narrow terraces as well as along the gentle curves of the hillsides, eventually spreading out at the foot of the majestic mountain range.

The appellations of the Dentelles de Montmirail

As a result, the vineyards benefit from a rich diversity of soils, whose unique character is directly linked to the geological features of the Dentelles. There are eight wine appellations in the Rhône Valley, including Gigondas, Vacqueyras, and Beaumes-de-Venise.
