Château Vessière
Located at the gateway to the Camargue, between Provence and Languedoc, Château Vessière is a family estate passed down for seven generations. Situated south of Nîmes, the vineyard covers approximately 65 hectares, cultivated organically, on a terroir characterized by rolled pebbles, locally known as gress soils.
These soils, combined with a Mediterranean climate tempered by Camargue influences, promote the gradual ripening of the grapes and help preserve the wine's fresh balance. The vineyard benefits from good natural water regulation and abundant sunshine, while remaining well-ventilated, thus limiting over-ripening.
The estate's modern history began in the late 1970s, when Philippe Teulon started bottling and marketing the wines. In 2007, Vincent Teulon took over the estate after training in oenology and gaining experience abroad, notably in California. Together with Lucie Teulon, he initiated a shift in practices towards more environmentally conscious viticulture.
Today, the vineyard is managed using organic farming methods, with particular attention paid to limiting inputs, maintaining soil health, and allowing the grapes to express themselves as directly as possible. Some wines are made with very little, or even no, added sulfites, in a quest for purity and clarity of expression.
In the cellar, winemaking prioritizes precision and restraint. Extractions are carefully controlled to preserve supple tannins and a balanced structure, while aging complements the wines without masking the terroir's identity. Château Vessière wines offer structured yet approachable Mediterranean profiles, where fruit, freshness, and drinkability take center stage.
The estate thus establishes itself as a representative address of the Costières de Nîmes, offering a coherent and contemporary interpretation of this transitional territory between the Rhône and the Mediterranean, faithful to its family heritage and its natural environment.
