Everything You Need to Know About Coteaux du Giennois
The Coteaux-du-Giennois appellation is located in the Centre-Loire subregion. The white wines are made from the Sauvignon grape variety, while the reds and rosés are made from Gamay and Pinot Noir. The vineyard covers 200 hectares and is situated on two types of soil. In the north, the soils consist of clay, silica, and limestone. In the south, the soils are white with siliceous deposits. 8,100 hectoliters are produced each year. The wines exhibit subtle variations in flavor depending on the soil and climate. Generally, the whites have a pale gold color, with aromas of fern, acacia, peach, and apricot. The whites are often dry and light. The reds have purple hues, with aromas of red fruit and a lovely roundness on the palate. The rosés, meanwhile, are slightly peppery, lively, and elegant.
